How to Configure Individual User SMTP Accounts

Each staff member has the ability to integrate their third party email provider into RecPro as a SMTP relay account.  RecPro will use this provider to forward emails such as receipts, reports, marketing, and customer password resets.

This configuration can be found under 'Setup' -> 'E-mail' -> 'User E-mail Setup'.  Each staff login will have their own configuration so that unique accounts can be used.

1. Outgoing Mail Server - Address to your providers email server.  This can be entered as a fully qualified domain name (FQDN) or an IP address.  (Ex. smtp.gmail.com)

2. Port - Secure or unsecure port number used by the email server to accept relay. (Ex. 25 or 587)

3. Enable SSL - Mark this box if your email provider requires SSL or TLS encryption.  (RecPro defaults to TLS 1.2)

4. Username - Email address or username of the SMTP relay account being configured.

5. Password - Passcode for the username entered in step 4.

6. Display Name - This is seen as the senders name on the receiving end of your emails.

7. From/Reply - The email recipient will see this as the originating address of your emails.  If they reply to your message it will go to this address.

8. Test Local SMTP Settings - Use this button to test the SMTP configuration.  You will be asked to enter an email address to send the test to after pressing this button.

9. SMTP Settings - Choose this option to use the SMTP credentials on this screen for email relay.

NOTE: If 'Local E-Mail Client' is marked, the SMTP settings will be bypassed and all e-mail will be sent to the staff members locally installed default e-mail client.  If the user does not have a client instilled they will receive an error.  Also be aware that mass e-mails and customer password resets can not be sent this way. (SMTP relay is the preferred method)
