How to Select Default Printers

Documents printed from RecPro are sent to your printer two different ways depending on what is being printed.


NOTE: If you are a Wizmo (Cloud hosted) customer make sure you have the latest Screwdrivers v7.2.2 application installed before setting up printers.


How RecPro Determines Where to Send Print Jobs

1.  Any document that is printing outside of the 'Shopping Cart' module is sent to your default Windows printer.  This includes all reports.

2. Anything printed from within the 'Shopping Cart' module is sent to whichever printer is selected under 'Printer Setup' found in the shopping cart.  This includes receipts, file attachments, and membership cards.  This configuration is found by going to 'Shopping Cart' -> 'Shopping Cart'.  (Only accessible when customer search window is closed)


NOTE:  The Point of Sale application has it's own unique printer setup which is outlined later in this article.




Shopping Cart Printer Setup


1.  Choose Size of Receipt

2.  Forms - Press this button to select the default printer used for full page receipts and file attachments.

3.  Credit Card and Small Sales Receipt - Press this button to select the default printer used for credit card receipts.  This printer is also used for main receipts when 'Receipt Tape' is chosen for the default receipt size.

4.  Membership Card - Press this button to select the default printer used for membership cards.


Point of Sale Printer Setup

The Point of Sale application has a printer setup that is unique to itself and can be accessed under the 'Device Setup' button at the login screen.

1.  At the Point of Sale login screen press 'Device Setup'


2. Select 'Setup Receipt Printer'.  (This screen can also be accessed by pressing 'Control' + 'S' after signing in)


3.  Choose your desired receipt printer and press 'OK'.  Keep in mind that Point of Sale only prints receipts formatted for thermal paper and does not support the full page option.


Printing Reports

Reports will automatically print to your Windows default printer.  You can also manually select which printer the report goes to from the 'Preview' screen.  See below.




Printer Configuration File Save Locations

1. Main Application

All three printer configuration files (Forms, Credit Card, and Membership Card) are saved to the users local storage of whichever PC was used to save these settings.  This is based on the Windows login and not the RecPro login. The folder location will be similar to the following.

C:\Users\<<WINDOWS_USER>>\AppData\Local\IsolatedStorage\....\StrongName.XXX\AssemFiles

 

Configuration file names are the following:


NOTE:  If no printer is configured for any of the above options RecPro will move to the default Windows printer.


2. Point of Sale

Folder location: C:\ProgramData\IsolatedStorage\....\StrongName.XXX\AssemFiles

File name:  POSReceipt.xml



Troubleshooting

In the event that the .XML configuration file becomes corrupt or contains a printer name that no longer exists you may see an error like this when printing.



This can be fixed by re-saving the default printer receiving this error.  If you are still having issues you can try deleting the config file and then re-saving the printer.

1. Open 'Printer Setup'

2. Press the button that corresponds to the printer receiving an error.

3. Press 'Cancel' at the printer select screen.

4. Select 'Yes' when asked 'Do you want to REMOVE the existing printer settings and use the default printer?'

5. Go back into the printer select and choose your preferred model.
