How to Install and Use an Ingenico Card Reader (Card Connect)

RecPro is currently compatible with the following Ingenico devices; iPP320, ISC Touch 250, iSMP4, Lane/3000, and Lane/5000.  Each model is installed using the same directions and cabling. This article will go over that installation.

The included Ingenico cable will appear as below.  The HDMI connector plugs directly into the Ingenico device white the RJ-45 plugs into a live Ethernet wall or switch port.  All models communicate with Card Connect over the internet directly and therefore require an active internet connection.

NOTE: Your IT will need to make sure that your firewall is open to allow traffic to and from Card Connect.  Information on how this is set up can be found at https://support.cardpointe.com/integrated/terminal/network-connections.

The Ingenico iSMP4 operates on Wi-Fi only so it will not ship with the cable seen below.  For setting up Wi-Fi on this device see this article.  Once Wi-FI has been connected come back to this page.

Once all cabling has been connected, power on the Ingenico device.  After booting up, you will see either 'Connected' or 'Disconnected' at the bottom of the screen.  The Words 'Connected' indicates an active connection to Card Connects servers which is required for device functionality.  If the device is displaying 'Disconnected' it may indicate your firewall is blocking the necessary ports and/or IP addresses needed to communicate with Card Connect or that there is no active internet connection to the device.  See required firewall rules at the top of this article.

Once the device is powered on and is displaying 'Connected' you are ready to move forward with setting up RecPro.

Setting up Ingenico Device with RecPro

1.  Log into RecPro.  The 'Site' you log into must be tied to the same merchant account that is programmed on the Ingenico device.  This is required.  You can view which merchant account each site is tied to by going to 'Setup' -> 'System Defaults' -> 'Sites'.

2. Go to 'Settings' -> 'Device Manager' -> 'Credit Card Reader' -> Choose your Ingenico Model.  Under 'Device Serial #' choose the device you are wanting connected to the PC your on.  This number can be found on the back of the Ingenico device.

NOTE:  The Point of Sale application has its own unique credit card device setup.  This is found by pressing 'Device Manager' at the login screen.  All other instructions are the same.

The device manager window may appear differently depending on what version RecPro you have installed.  Newer models such as the Ingenico Lane/3000 and Lane/4000 will still work even when selecting iPP320 or iSC Touch 250 because they work on the same technology.

3. Open the 'Shopping Cart' module and begin a sale.

4. During checkout choose 'Credit Card 1' as your form of payment.

5. Press 'Swipe Card' to wake up the Ingenico device and initiate a credit card transaction.

6. You should now see the following card entry screen.  Press the green button to confirm the amount being charged and enter the chip end of the credit card into the front of the Ingenico device.  You can also use 'Tap to Pay' at this point as well.

7.  Allow the Ingenico device to process the entered card until it asks for you to remove it.  Once removed you should see a Transaction ID and Auth Code enter the checkout screen.  This indicates a successful charge.

If a customer wants to give a credit card number over the phone you can manually enter a card on the Ingenico device using the steps below.

How to Manually Enter a Card on an Ingenico Device

1.  At checkout, instead of pressing 'Swipe Card' you will be pressing 'Manual Entry'.

2.  You will be asked on the Ingenico device to confirm the amount being charged.  Press the green button to move forward.  You will then be asked for the card number and expiration date.  Each time a value is entered press the green button to move forward.  After entering the final value the device will process the card and if the transaction is successful you will see the transaction ID and auth code dump into the checkout screen.
